Shinetsu Kougen (Niigata Prefecture - Myoko City; Nagano Prefecture - Nagano City, Shinano Town, Iizuna Town, Iiyama City)

 


Race Dates:

100 miles (160km):  Saturday, September 14, 2019 / 18:30 race start

110km:  Sunday, September 15, 2019 / 5:30 race start

・100 miles  - 33 hours (with 5 cutoff points) 

・110km - 22 hours (with 3 cutoff points)

Entries are filled on a first come first serve basis with priority given to last year's top finishers and volunteers, as well as 100 entries for 110km with local contribution (furusato nouzei). An additional 30 priority race slots are also given to local residents (residents of Myoko, Shinano, Nagano, Iizuna and Iiyama) who've volunteered their time for race preparations, trail maintenance, etc.

 

Overseas racers

There will be 30 slots (in total) available for the 100 mile and 110km races for racers signing up through the Avid website (available only for racers coming from overseas and foreign residents in Japan). These slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

 


Registration Period:

Japanese entries:  Sun. May 19, 2019 / 22:00  until Fri. May 31, 2019

International entries:   Sun. May 19, 2019 / 22:00 (Japan Standard Time)

International entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis and will be closed once all the race slots are filled.

Race 

Requirements:

For both race categories

  • You must be 18 years old or above.
  • You must have confidence to be able to complete the race within the time limit and without getting lost.
  • You understand and agree to the accommodation requirements (*see below) set out for each race category.

(*) Accommodation requirements: With the exception of local residents, all racers must stay in accommodations arranged by the race. We ask for your understanding and cooperation as these accommodations are members of the local tourism associations that organizes and provides the staff that makes this race possible. (For international racers, see "Race Packages" for details)

 

100 miles

  1. You must stay in an accommodation arranged by the race after the race on Sunday, Sept 15.
  2. You must have finished a minimum of 2 trail running races over 100 km long within the cutoff times during the past 4 years (May 13, 2015 - May 12, 2019).  All racer qualifications will be checked upon registration. The trail races can be either in Japan or overseas. The following races will not be accepted:
  • Ultra-road marathons held on paved roads
  • Stage races (except for those races with 100km+ in distance per day)
  • Informal races that cannot be verified as well as pre-races that do not have verifiable finish times.

The race organizer will be the one to make the final decision as to whether a specific race qualification is acceptable or not.

 

110 km

  1. You must stay in an accommodation arranged by the race on the day before the race (Sat. Sept 14) and after the race (Sun. Sept 15)

Note: You can also reserve your shuttle bus from Iiyama Station to the race venue from the above link as well. (Shuttle bus is free but reservations are required.) 

 


Entry Fees:

100 miles: 

JPY 38,000 (racer)      JPY 10,000 (pacer)

 

110 km:

JPY 25,000 (racer)      JPY 8,000 (pacer)

 

Note

* No refunds provided once you've registered for whatever reason. 

* Race bibs are non-transferable and race category may not be changed.

* Part of the entry fee will be used for trail maintenance and environmental conservation activities.

* Please note: It is customary in Japan for race registration sites to charge an admin fee & system usage charge. This fee of 10% for international entries will be added to your registration & accommodation /transportation package fee when signing up for the race.

 

Pacers

Pacers are allowed to accompany the racer from the following sections:

100 miles:  Cutoff point #3 KUROHIME ~ Finish Line (IIZUNA KOUGEN)

110km:  Cutoff point #2 SASAGAMINE KOUGEN GREEN HOUSE ~ Finish Line (IIZUNA KOUGEN)

Note - Pacers are optional 


Insurance:

 

Group accident insurance is included in the entry fee however if you are coming from overseas, it is highly recommended that you enroll in an overseas travel insurance plan that will cover you for the duration of your stay in Japan. The coverage provided by the race’s group accident insurance plan is a supplemental plan geared towards Japanese residents who already have Japanese Health Insurance coverage. Please bring a copy of your insurance policy with you.

Awards:

  1. Awards for the top 10 finishers in both the male & female categories. (Prizes for the top 3 finishers)
  2. Wooden trophies engraved with your name and finish time for all finishers who complete the race within the time limit. Trophies will be mailed to you after the race. In addition, 100 mile finishers will be given a commemorative buckle.
  3. Priority entry rights for next year's race for the top 10 finishers in both the male & female categories.
